Reunion Troubles

October 29, 2013 by writeradmin

So, here is the story. When I went to High School I  had horrible buck teeth. I was mercilessly teased.  I was also overweight and had acne (of course). Since getting out of high school, I have lost a ton of weight and my acne is gone.  I’ve got a class reunion coming up next year. Is there any chance I can get my teeth in decent shape before then? I actually look pretty good as is, but fixing my teeth would just be the icing on the cake.  It would be nice for them to realize there was a gorgeous person underneath the gal they tortured. I promise not to go all “Carrie” on them.

Beth Q.- Michigan

Beth,

Well, as long as promise not to go all homicidal telekinetic, then I guess I can help.  A year would not be enough time for traditional braces; however, Invisalign is an orthodontic procedure that can fix your teeth in about half the time as traditional means.

Another upside is even if the treatment is not completed, no one would be able to tell you are wearing them.  They’re invisible even at a conversational distance.  But, if you were concerned, they could be removed for that one evening. In fact, I’d probably recommend that. You’ll be eating on and off during the gathering and it would simplify things.

As you’re hoping to knock  their socks off with your new smile, I might suggest going one step further.  Nothing makes you look younger than whitening your teeth.  You might be able to convince your dentist into letting your invisalign aligners double as teeth whitening trays, which will knock out two treatments simultaneously.

Solution for a large gap

October 21, 2013 by writeradmin

I have a gigantic gap in my two front teeth.  I measured it and it is not quite a full centimeter, but pretty close.  I asked my dentist if we could do anything.  He gave me some information on snap on smile.  Though it looked OK, I don’t want to have to wear something over my teeth. Is there another solution? I’m out in a desert town, so there aren’t many dental options for me here.

Meagan H. – California

Meagan,

Did your dentist mention invisalign?  If he didn’t, it might be because he isn’t equipped to do them.  These will close the gap in your teeth, like braces would, but without all the uncomfortable wires and brackets.

Invisalign uses clear aligners. Even at a converstional distance people will not be able to tell you are wearing them, so it is nothing like wearing braces.  You can eat whatever you want and clean your teeth normally, then just put the aligners back in. They work in about half the time as traditional braces.

If your dentist cannot do invisalign, I would just call around and see who does. It isn’t very complicated.
